When Casey and the boys did their little roadtripping around Florida, he talked to radio stations as he usually does, and 97.3 KISS Country does something they call Summer Concert Series, and the interviews are so awesome....
"One constant between the up-tempo charmers and sad or sexy love songs is the presence of James’ guitar. If you saw him on Idol, you know that he doesn’t leave home without it, professionally speaking. Judge Jennifer Lopez was even moved at one point that this was a singing contest, not a multi-talent competition, as if James bringing along his trusty axe constituted some kind of newly officially sanctioned cheating. But for him, playing guitar while he sings is no more a “choice” than being country."

You are right about the "judge" mention in that article. I noticed it too. It was Kara that kept saying Casey was "jam-banding" too much & it was more about the singing. I didn't ever agree with that at all and I know a lot of us didn't either. I think the guitar enhances the singing. It's a treat to listen and watch him play his guitars as well as hear his singing. It made him stand out over all the other contestants, to me, anyway. That article was pretty good otherwise. Always enjoy reading about Casey! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin!! Yep, Kara did not like Casey playing that guitar!! And I guarantee you, it was her that constituted that week that NO ONE got to play their instruments!! Remember that?? Cuz Crystal was like Casey, she wanted her guitar with her. And they made them all lay 'em down on Sinatra week!! That was so rediculous.
