Casey's Songwriting collaborations, new poll and other news.....

Hey yall!!  There's just not a whole lot of news to talk about right now, but I have been meaning to touch on Casey's songwriting collaborations since moving to Nashville last year!  And I've been thinking about a new poll for a couple weeks too, so think I'll address both tonight!

There is also little things I'm going to put on here, just because!  :)  Like....this link to this beautiful shirt you can buy from Skechers, at a rock bottom, hurry while they last price of only $8.80 + shipping and handling!  It is the finalists of American Idol T Shirts, and Casey's is so cool, complete with guitars!!  So, if you are interested, just click  HERE and get yours!!

Ooooo guess what I see???  One of the most (a really cool adjective inserted here...lol) pictures of Billy Cole I've ever seen!!!  Loving the long hair BC!!!  This was taken somewhere at Billy Bob's.  Maybe backstage??

Thanks Sylvia for this pic!

As you may have already noticed, I've added another new show to Casey's ever growing schedule in July!!  On July 16th at the  Craven Country Jamboree  in Saskatchewan, Canada, Casey will be taking the stage at 1:00 pm!!  So get ready all you Canadian Casey Fans, it's your turn to enjoy you some LIVE Casey!!!  For more information, click the link above!

Check this out.....

Thanks to Ana...

I don't guess I ever get tired of looking at Casey playing his guitars!!  And.... I think that is my favorite one he plays!!  They are all pretty, but I really fancy this one for some reason!  It's always interesting to me....he does it so well.... :)  And it's as if his face is trying to mimic what the guitar is sounding like!  ;-)  Looooove it!!!!!  :)  He always has a nice 'guitar face'.

I am going to start the poll sometime tomorrow, I think.  I am going to ask you to choose your Top 3 original songs by Casey.  I have all of his new songs on the "Casey's Music" tab above.  So when I put the poll on, you can go listen to the songs, if you need to, there.  And then just VOTE!!  Keep in mind, Casey does drop by Caseymania from time to time, and we want him to know what we're thinking, in terms of our favorites of his songs!  So make sure you vote, we want some really big numbers to show him!!!

Now....on to the collaborations I've talked about.  I don't think I've actually talked in length about this, but Casey has written with some very well know writers since moving to Nashville last year.  What we have thus far is:

"Hold On"-Kristian Bush

"Done Made Up My Mind"-Mark Nestler and Tony Martin

"Bulletproof"-Delbert McClinton and Big Al Anderson

"Drive"-Brad and Brett Warren

"So Sweet"-Patrick Davis (yes, this is the one Patrick called the PD)

"Til My Guitar"-Gary Nicholson and Joe Randall

"Ya Need Some Texas"-Brice Long and Terry McBride

And of course the very talented duo of Aimee Mayo and her writer/husband Chris Lindsey have also teamed up with Casey, and have at least 3 songs titled...."Get it Right"-"Living or Dying" and "I Miss Your Fire".  I don't know about yall....but I think those are some pretty awesome titles!!  And.....speaking of Aimee Mayo.....how fortunate that she just answered a Casey Fan on Twitter!!
Here's what they had to say.....

miyuki
One more song with ? Wow nice! How many songs have you made with him?

Aimee Mayo
we have a bunch of songs going. he is so talented & so inspiring. i'm excited about the music we are making!!!!!!!!!!

Oooohhh I'm loving the sound of that!!!  She is one of my favorite writers, penning songs like "Your My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw, "Amazed" by Lone Star, "Who You'd Be Today" by Kenny Chesney, "Wheel of the World" by Carrie Underwood,"Red High Heels" by Kellie Pickler and many many other well known artists songs!!  I'm sure whatever they come up with is going to be totally amazing!!!

He's also been writing with Randy Owen (from the group "Alabama"), Tom Douglas, Jim and Brett Beavers, Jaren Johnston, Shane McAnally, and  Dallas Davidson.  And most recently, Casey spoke of future writing with Amos Lee.

Can yall believe all those writers he's been working with??  It's amazing!!  That must be fun too, just hanging out with guitars, pens and paper, and your drink of choice and just doing what comes natual.....to some anyway!!

I wonder if they ever order Pizza or anything?

Ok, yall.....it's getting late for me, so I'll leave you tonight with this little something  I created from a picture of Casey from Albuquerque....I think??  Enjoy!

I'm outta here yall....take care.....I'll see ya soon!!

Until next time.....

Reviews from Scottsdale,Az. plus an interview and pics & videos!

Hey everybody!!  I tell ya what....that Casey is a busy man right now, and I am slow as christmas about getting everything posted!!  Oh well....I guess better late than never right?!  I probably am not going to do a whole lot of jabbering today, because I have alot of stuff to get on here and I need to just get it done!!  If I start talking, it might be tomorrow before I'm done!! :)

Before Casey took the stage at Billy Bob's he did a sit down interview with David May from the Weatherford Democrat about all kinds of subjects, from guitarists to his album!  Check out the whole awesome interview HERE.

Casey left Texas and headed to Scottsdale, Arizona, and did a fantastic show there on Sunday, at the Salt River Fields, opening for none other than Blake Shelton!  He was also joined there by his American Idol alum, Crystal Bowersox.  There's a lot of positive talk and tweets and very nice pics!!  Ed Masley did a nice little write up about Casey as he was recapping the whole show:

Casey James got a full set to show off his musical chops on assorted electric guitars, setting the tone with a blues-rock solo on the boogie-rocking "Bulletproof," a song he co-wrote with Big Al Anderson of NRBQ. Although he's being marketed as country now, he wasn't shy about letting his blues roots show in a set whose highlights ranged from country-rocking "Need Some Texas" (which wasn't far removed from something Eric Clapton might have done around the time of "Backless") to the hardcore blues of "Drowning on Dry Land." His set ended with one last opportunity for James to tear it up on lead guitar, the heavy blues-rock of "Done Made Up My Mind," which sounded like it could have been an FM staple in the early '70s.
Midway through his set, after James led his bandmates through a soulful ballad called "Let's Don't Call it a Night," Rachel Jewell, a 20-something nurse from Mesa, said, "It's so funny that he came up through 'American Idol.' He so much cooler than 'American Idol.'"

Casey James at Billy Bob's Part 2

It's now time for the rest of the story!  I just want to say one thing about Casey and Texas.  I've noticed, and so have many others, that when he is in Texas, playing his music....he seems even more happy to be playing his music, than any other place!!  I know he's happy playing his music wherever, but....it seems he's almost ecstatic when he's in his home state!!  And my friend, Cyndee, worded that euphoria better than I ever could have!!  She said when playing in Texas, for his homecoming last year, she thought missing his family and friends and home made great emotions in him, but it's more than that.....it's like "Texas Completes Him"!!!!!!   I LOVE THAT!!!  That sounds like the title to a another future Casey penned homestate song!! :)  Thank you Cyndee, you never cease to amaze me!!!  :)

Casey's happiness was never more evident than it was on that Billy Bob's Stage on Friday night!!!  He was joking around and giving us little one liners here and there....I especially loved the water line....."I can tell I'm in Texas when I'm drinking Ozarka water!!"  Hahaha!!!  And the pride in his face at the fact that he was intoducing his Momma on that stage.....well, lets just say he was grinning from ear to ear!!!  :)  His happiness was very noticeable and I, for one, was extremely moved to see him that way!!!!!!

I'm going to get started on all the videos that have to be posted....and there are many....let me tell you!!!  All together, there were 21 songs sang!!!!!

"I LIED" and "LET'S DON'T CALL IT A NIGHT
Thanks to clwesson (@CoolCJfan)

"DROWING ON DRY LAND"
Thanks to kathy11
Yes, this is the same song he sung during his Homecoming at the Keys Lounge last year!!!!  And it just don't get any better than Casey Blues!!!!!!   I absolutely LOVE this side of him, and so thrilled to see him playing it in his headlining shows!!!!!!!!!!  He is absolutely AMAZING when he plays the Blues!!!!!  And this song puts chills on me the whole time he's playing it....just inCREDible talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"LONG TALL TEXAN"
Thanks to kathy11
I love the way he tells the crowd...."yall gotta yell real loud this time when I say Texas!!"  Haha!!  And we didn't let him down.....the expression on his face told me, we did good!!!!!!!!

"WHY I'M FEELING BLUE"
Thanks to kathy11
This is a brand NEW song none of us had ever heard!!  It's beautiful as well!!!!  And before he starts, I love how he says...."Could I get a little monitor on this guitar sir.....haha....I wanna hear it too!"  lol....I'm just loving this new funnier Casey that's emerging with each show he does.....it's so special to watch him grow and get better at what he's doing at every show!!  It's a bit like watching a baby grow and learn.....(*sniff sniff*...wiping a tear....never mind me....I do this all the time...)

"UNDONE" another NEW song we hadn't heard....and he ain't done yet!!!  Love this sweet love song!!
Thanks to kathy11

"SHINE YOUR SHOES"  this one surfaced when Casey sang it at a Purse Party in Malabu, California last year.  It's been a fan favorite, and to my knowledge has not been performed again until now!!!  There was a long standing discussion among the fans, as to the exact Title of this song.....and finally Casey said "Shine your Shoes, I guess" LoL!!!  love it!!!
Thanks to kathy11

"USE ME"  I love his version of this song!!!  Wow!!!!!  What a great song!!!!!
Thanks kathy11

"NEED YOUR LOVE SO BAD"
Thanks kathy11
Love his take on this awesome Fleetwood Mac tune!!!  Another very bluesy tune, done only the way Casey can!!!!!

"TIL MY GUITAR" another bluesy tune, written by Casey, one time when he was feeling lonely.....
Thanks kathy11

"TOO SWEET FOR ME"
Thanks kathy11
Another Homecoming favorite from last year!  Are you seeing a trend here....he was on a Blues Roll for just a while!!  And I love me some Blues....I do!!!!!  And he gets the audience involved and asked us to sing "Too Sweet For Me" after he does....it was alot of fun!!!!  Then he said we didn't do too bad!!!  :)  This is so different from what we're accustomed to him doing!!!!  He's coming out of his shell and becoming more than a brilliant guitarist and singer, he's becoming an Entertainer before our very eyes!!!  Oh gosh....here I go again.... all these new things I'm seeing him do for the first time are so touching and emotional to me.....

"SO SWEET"  Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and put this out there.....from the moment I heard this song, it made me so emotional, and I absolutely LOVED it more than any other of his new songs!!  This one just had that extra something....I can't put my finger on it, but before he sang it, he said, "may hear this one on the radio soon" and that he 'loved it.....A Lot!!!"  I believe this song should be his first single.....just my opinion, but it has that 'IT' factor, that easy chorus to sing, a great hook, as they say in the business....that is so very memorable....this should be the one!!!!!  I really feel radio would love this one and it's listening audience as well!!!!
Thanks kathy11

"DRIVE" when you are working on that guitar with the slide like he is in this song.....AND......your playing it for your hometown.....well....lets just say Casey gets carried away....in a really GOOD way and takes this song to the next dimension!!!  :)  This has always been one of my favorites, and a contender for the 1st single!!

"DONE MADE UP MY MIND" Actually the video says Drive Part 2, but it's just a typo.  This is another fan favorite and it's Casey's Rocker.....big time rocker!!!!!  He really shows his stuff on this song!!!  And especially that night!!!  Whew...I feel a bit sorry for his guitar he's wailing on it so much!!!  But it's a great song!!!!!!
Thanks to kathy11

"ANGEL FROM MONTGOMERY" and "SMALL TOWN SATURDAY NIGHT"  This is Casey's encore, and he comes back on and says he wants to bring out the lady who started it all.....his momma.....Debra James!!  The crowd erupts with awesome applause as Debra takes the stage!!  They sang this song so beautifully together!!  She said they were gonna 'wing it' because she just found out she was doing it 2 hours earlier!
Thanks to clwesson

"GREEN LIGHT GIRL"  Now this is a song I never dreamed I'd hear Casey sing....but he does it great!!!  I love this song!!!
Thanks to clwesson

"HOLD ON" And last but certainly not least.....it's the song I've been hoping will land on the album!!   It sounds so good with the band behind him!!  I love the way he talks about that little boy in Sioux City, Iowa that night, who holds up the paper with the words on it, like a real trooper!!!  Casey and Kristian had written the song only hours before performing it in front of thousands of people!!!  He is so funny when he says if the boy had dropped it, 10,000 people would have had to listen to him hummmmm!! lol....then says he did that on a TV show.....but he never got caught!!  LoL!!!
Thanks to kathy11

OMG!!!  I'm exhausted yall!!!  Do you know how long it takes to copy, paste, and write some, about 18 videos at one time!!!!!  Wheeeewwww!!!  LOL!!!

Well, theres lots more to talk about tomorrow, but this just about wraps up the Casey Concert of the year!!!!  It was so fabulous and amazing.....there are just not enough adjectives in the English language to describe it!!!!!  I'm still walking on cloud 9!!!!!

Thanks to each and every one of you that I was fortunate enough to meet at this show, for all your support of me as I do what seems to be coming natural to me!!!  Love writing about Casey....he's easy!!  :)

I'll try and catch up with what I'm behind on tomorrow....ok?

Until then......

Casey James Live from Billy Bob's Texas!! Here's how it all played out!! Part 1

This had to be the Casey experience of the year!!!  Maybe even the decade!!    It's been quoted by many as "going to be EPIC"!!    And I do believe that is the perfect description of it!!  I had felt this exciting feeling since I woke up Thursday morning!  I was picking up another fan, Margarhita,  who was flying in from New York City!!  She had never experienced our hospitality or food in Texas!!  Among many other things!!
We just quickly got to the hotel, freshened up and headed to the now famous, "Keys Lounge"!  She and some others were excited to see the place where Casey wore blisters on his fingers playing the blues and honing his skills for years!! :)  Quite a few showed up just to hang out and party a little, including, Dawna, Doug, Jan, Julie, John, Anthea, Rhonda, Gino, Suzanne, and Melanie.    We had some cocktails and lots of awesome conversation, and pictures!  Here we are all together!  Check out my fluffy doo!!  Gino got a hold of my hair and did wonders with it!!  Got some pics of it in progress as well!!  He's a doll!!  Thanks Gino!!!

In this picture there are fans from Tx, Memphis,Tn.,St.Louis, Mo. NY, and England!

After a few hours of enjoying Jam Night at the Key's we all headed to either our hotel or home to get some rest for the BIG day!!!!!!

There were several fans who were here from out of state, and enjoying the Texas traditions, from their cowboy boots to their BBQ at Coopers BBQ, so conveniently located across the street from Billy Bobs!!  And.....let me just talk about this for a minute!
I live here and I'd never ate there, but it was the most unique experience I've ever had.....along with many Casey fans!!  People get to pick their choice of (yes, they get to pick their own piece of meat right from the huge grill) meat, which is slapped on a tray and sent to the next guy for weighing, then he wraps it up, and sticks a price tag on it!!!  What???  who does that??   Also on the grill are huge baked potatoes wrapped in foil.  Then, your walking on down the line to a cooler with 'tater salad'....yes I said tater salad, and for those of you who don't quite understand our slang sometimes....it's *potato*  lol..... there's also regular salad, all the trimmings you might need, like 'real' butter....gobs of it, shredded cheese, bacon bits, all kinds of dressings in a little packet and of course, the house dressings is in a little container.  There's other stuff in there too, but I don't remember what!  :)  Then you keep walking and there's all these cobblers....peach, apple, blueberry.....just dripping with high calorie sweetness!!!  Lawdy lawdy....get me outta here!!  My mouth is watering at this point, but I was good...... I stopped, stared at it, in all its deliciousness for a few minutes.....and calmly walked on to the register!!  I'm here to tell you, that was hard to do, cause I love cobbler!!!   And that might be the first time I've ever walked away from cobbler......'Are you getting all this...... my Dr. who has me on a diet?'  At least I'm trying to exercise my usually non-existent will power!!

I have to say, that was a fantastic meal....everybody was chatting away as we all ate!!  Then the pictures started.....or was that before the meal????  Not sure, but anyway, here is a really good one of at least one bunch of us....there were more!!

I would tell everybody's names, but I'll admit, I can't remember every single person's name.....sorry.... I know most names, but I don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings!   :(    But don't we look like we're ready for Casey to give us some much needed Texas!?!?!?

Good Times I tell ya.....good times!!!  It was so great to meet sooooo many of his fans!!  I'm pretty sure there was WAY more fans here than in Nashville last month!!  Here's a few more....

                      Darla & Sara-Florida

Margarhita & Sara-NY and Florida
Darla, Mickey, and Cyndee-Florida,Florida and MN.
Robin, Vet, and Sara-Nebraska, Texas, Florida

And just before everyone went in different directions, this one was taken!

(LtoR) Margherita, Jenn, Rhonda, Amber, and Carman

Thanks to all who posted these pics on FB I love 'em all!!  And you're all my girls!!  and guys! lol!!

We had fans from all over the place!  Then we all walked over to Billy Bobs, gave our tickets, and we were in the door for the most awesome show we've ever seen Casey put on!!!  We had to kill a lot of time before he went on, but it seemed to just fly by, and before we knew it, it was time!!!!
I had offered to do a conference call for the rest of the fans who couldn't be there, and that evidently worked out great!  So I'll say a great big YOUR WELCOME to all who listened in and enjoyed it so much!!  I'm just so glad I was able to do it for yall!!  I know there were some times it was garble-y, and sounded like it was under water, but I finally got it right, thanks to Cyndee, who somehow talked her way into a seat by me....when there wasn't a seat by me!!  Ha ha!!  She nabbed one from somewhere and was sitting by me in no time at all!!  I don't know how she did it, but it's not unlike her to pull a rabbit out of her hat at just about any time!!  :)  Thanks Cyndee....you're a doll!!

When the announcer said BNA recording artists, and American Idol finalist....the room just EXPLODED with screams and yells and whistles and it roared on for a little bit!!!  I was so very excited he got this kind of response!!!  Well, I never doubted his hometown support, or other support, and they let him know they were proud of him!!!  I was almost in tears, it was so very beautiful to see this crowd go absolutely crazy when his name was announced!!!  And if it wasn't sold out....I bet it was close, because it was packed in there!!!!  And for those of you who may not know this....Billy Bobs holds 6000+ people!!!!  I've never seen an artist without an album, or even a single out, sell that many tickets, and bring the crowd to their feet like he did that night!!!!  It's just unheard of!!!  And this is just the beginning....it's only gonna get bigger and better for Casey....I can just feel it!!!  And I couldn't be more proud for him!!

Here is the first three  songs he sang, on video (miraculously-BBs don't allow videoing).  I'm just so glad some were able to get these for us!!

Thanks to Kathy11 for her stunning videos!
"Ya Need Some Texas"

"Bulletproof"

"She's Money"

Before Casey sang the song above, he was joking with the crowd and really cutting loose!!  He said he thought they were more excited than him....if that was possible!!!!  And went on to say, jokingly of course, that his friends and family had bought up all the tickets....LOL!!!!  I love this funny Casey!!!  He cracks me up!!!  He also mentioned that some in the crowd may know him from a TV show and that they would soon be hearing him on the radio!!!!  In a couple months!!!  So, there you have it....straight from the horses mouth as they say!!!  A couple months will fly by, so we'll be hearing him on the radio before we know it!!!!  Yes!!!!!!  This is what I've waited for!!!   I'm so excited for his future!!!
And.....this song, "She's Money" is a brand NEW one we haven't hear before!!!  And he didn't stop there with the new song surprises!!!

Ok, yall....it's late, and I'm exhausted....so come on back tomorrow and I'll finish this awesome show up, complete with pictures and the rest of the videos from the show....(yes, we have the whole show)!!!!

And I'll leave you with these beautiful shots, courtesy of the very talented Jake Felts of Felts Photography!!   Thanks so much!!

See yall tomorrow!!   Until then.......
